MERCEDES BENZ W105 (180) - Millions of miles traveled
Mercedes-Benz W105 is a car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1956 to 1959 and marketed as the Mercedes-Benz Typ 219. Part of the "Ponton" family, featured a 2.2-cylinder in-line engine of 2.2.
Story
Ponton's body shape was introduced in 1953 by the W120 180 chassis. The following year, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 6-cylinder 220a which was visually similar to the 180, but with 70 mm (3 in) added to the front wings. to accommodate two extra cylinders and 100 mm (4 in) added to the rear doors to provide extra legroom for rear passengers. This model worked until 1956 when the 219 and 220S were introduced.
Model identification
The front pillar 219 was identical to the long nose 220a, including the 2.2 L single-cylinder 2.2-cylinder engine. However, starting from the a-pillar, it used the shorter body of the W120 / W121 180/190 models. This can be identified by the single windows on the rear doors, as opposed to windows 220a and 220S with separate windows.
Inside, the 219 used the simpler instrumentation of the small car, along with bakelite instead of woodgrain.
